And then it was time to ROCK..AOKE!!!

When you're planning a wedding on a tight budget but want to throw one hell of a party you have to make some tough choices. For us, when it came down to choosing a videographer or a band, there was a resounding cry of ROCKAOKE!!! And boy did they not disappoint.

After a loooong day of posing for photographs, champagne and warm wishes it was an absolute breath of fresh air to let our hair down and ROCK ON. Bride and groom, guests and staff alike sang, danced and pumped their fists in the air.

Rockaoke have an extensive song list with a variety of genres: 80's Power Ballads, Cheesy Duets, Glam Rock and Brit Pop just to name a few. Add to the mix a slick guitar, funky bass, poppin drums and sweet backing vocals you couldn't be blamed for thinking that you're headlining at Wembley.
Did I mention that we are all show ponies?
Aside from being consummate professionals and fantastic musicians, the ROCKAOKE peeps are incredibly lovely, supportive and SUPER FUN. Everyone was up for a party and I definitely felt like a Rock Star in a wedding dress.

If you wish to book ROCKAOKE or check out that they're all about, follow these links:

I was there!! - The Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza

I can't enthuse enough how much I enjoyed the Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza yesterday! Firstly, I love a road trip, so heading to Birmingham for the afternoon with my hubby in tow was bliss. Add onto that the fact that the EWE was the friendliest and most creative wedding fair I've ever been to, and it was pretty much a perfect arvo.

It was a pleasure to meet so many small-wedding-business people who are passionate about the products and services they provide. It was even more of a pleasure to see that all those products and services were GORGEOUS!

Here are some of my faves...

LOVE ILLUSTRATED
David and Sian create colourfully quirky wedding stationery.
RESTORATION CAKE
Charlotte of Restoration Cake fame is not only one of the nicest people you will ever meet, but will create a cake for you which will have you drooling before you even taste it!
The brainchild of Jo (who co-created EWE!), The Couture Company creates luscious bespoke wedding gowns. I desperately wished that we had won the lottery so that I could take everything home with me!

Of course there were many more companies showing at EWE (and I bet there will be an overflow next time!) which I would love to share with you, but I will be showcasing them in their own blog posts.

Were you at the fair? Which stands did you enjoy?

Wedding Planning Course

As some of you may know, I'm currently studying for a certificate in Wedding Planning...this is aside from creating the new So Pretty Was She website (including copying each blogpost over!), creating items for the SPWS Etsy store, photographing/uploading items to the SPWS Etsy Store, writing Thank You cards to all our wedding guests and dreaming of puppies.

As part of the course, it is required to plan fantasy weddings and I'm *super* chuffed to have already been doing this (and more importantly, writing it down!) for this blog for ages!!! Hooray, it's a cinch!!!

These are my favourite past editions of (Wedding) Fantasy Friday, ones that I wish I had planned my own wedding to be:

1. The Coney Island Wedding full of colour, fun and fairground food.

2. The Retro 1950's Wedding complete with giant petticoats, quiffs and Elvis *swoooon*.

3. The low-key backyard breakfast wedding with lots of homely love.

Which (Wedding) Fantasy Friday is your favourite?

The Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza: TWO FREE TICKETS!!!

I'm very excited to feature the Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza today – It’s all about EWE!!
Leave your details in the comments below for FREE tickets to the fair on Sunday 4th November 2012 in Birmingham. I'll see you there :)

What happens when three slightly mad wedding suppliers come together? They hatch a crazy plan….that’s what!!  When Sassy (Assassynation), Jo (Couture Company) and Vikki (Liliia) got nattering over a glass of wine (standard)  they decided  that they would put on a Wedding Extravaganza with a real mix of suppliers “We want to put on an amazing wedding extravaganza (aka fair) that would be exciting for both the suppliers and  couples alike, so we hatched a plan  “A-team” style (Hannibal Smith would be proud).

The idea is that we want people to shake off the shackles of what is considered ‘normal’ or ‘traditional’ and to take their own personalities and loves and  stamp them on their weddings, so we have picked suppliers who can help ewe do that! [Ren: That's my favourite bit! It's exactly what we tried to do at our wedding recently. I *wish* EWE had happen before September!!! You fiance d couples are LUCKY!!!]
c/o: The Couture Company & Assassynation
This is no ordinary wedding show, the suppliers aka the 'Baad Ass Mother Flockers' have been chosen and invited based on their personalities, the quality of their end product and the fact that they offer something unique. White linen covered trestle tables are discouraged and hard sells are banished, we want you to come along, have a drink and a good old natter to the Mother Flockers that catch your eye.  The Mo Flo’s are being challenged to create stands that are totally unique and interactive. As well as having awesome Mo Flo’s at the show, we will be running some competitions, having a fashion walkabout/ramble and organising a treasure hunt! Prizes will include free photography sessions, make overs and styling, free cakes, accessories and Big BIG Discount vouchers

So we are putting a call out to all you gamers, goths, geeks, rockabillies,  psychobillies, off the walls, mods and rockers, steampunks, new punks, old punks, flappers ,happy clappers, hipsters and hell-raisers, bohemians, folks who are inked and pinked, or if Ewe just want YOU to shine through.
We hope to offer you some things that are really EWEnique for your weddings.
Our Motto
“Don’t be a wedding sheep…it’s all about EWE!!! “

Our venue, Fazeley Studios, was chosen due to the fact it is such a gorgeous space (and yes they do have weddings there) with tons of natural light to show off our Mo Flo’s work in the best possible way.

Have a ramble 'round the website, register and get your tickets early at a BAAAAArgain price of £3 YES !!! EWE heard right…..only £3 !!!!
